Professor Emeritus Penner has been on the faculty of Cornell University’s Hotel School for over 40 years, during which he has taught required and elective courses in hotel development and design.  He also has participated in numerous executive education programs both in Ithaca and overseas. Penner holds two architecture degrees from Cornell, and is an author of four books on hotel architecture as well as a history of Cornell University based on images from the university archives.  He has consulted on the development and design of hotels, resorts, conference centers, and related hospitality facilities around the world. He served one term as the Richard J. and Monene P. Bradley director of graduate studies at the Hotel School.  Also, he has chaired several design roundtables sponsored by Cornell’s Center for Hospitality Research.
